ITS OFFICIAL!
At El Mirage Dry Lakebed, on 5/19/2024 the GPZ-636 has finally earned us a Dirty Two membership! 208.735mph on a 1.3 mile course.
If this is any representation of what this bike is capable of, we will be adding a few more 200mph passes at the end of August, 2024 when we attend Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials hosted by the AMA.
The GPZ-636 Turbo project came about with 2 goals in mind, trolling forums with the classic "My a 600cc can do 180", and getting a Bonneville red hat to prove ours can actually do 200! Obviously from the factory this is never going to happen, so we set out to build a custom motorcycle for the job, and of course that meant a turbo bike.
This is a 30th Anniversary (2015) ZX-6R, and is probably a 636 like you've never seen, built for up to 350HP, and so far we have pushed 272HP with a 7lb spring.
The first debut of the bike was at El Mirage, CA on 5-20-2023 where on it's first pass we set a new MPS-650BG record of 182.100 mph.
Bonneville Speedweek 2023 was a bit of a wash. Very wet conditions lead to simply obtaining our first 2 licenses. But running 154.386 mph with no ballast on a slushie felt pretty good!
El Mirage season closer on 5-11-2023 resulted in a single pass and a new MPS-650BF record of 189.076 mph! Thats 15 mph over the minimum with a lot left in the tank. This also left us as the 2nd fastest bike at the event, falling just behind Womack Racing on a MPS-1650BF Hayabusa (190.519 mph).
What it takes:
Just a 272HP 600cc, nothing to see here
We didn't dial in the kill times yet, but here is a quick 1-2-3 pull with the adapted quickshifter.
Even NA, this bike made great power, but the bike was torn down just a few days later and parts started rolling in (slowly).
